That Bastard is Back

Warning, I will probably swear A LOT in this post, so if you don't care about profanity, read on.

That BASTARD GROUNDHOG has returned! I hate that little asshole! I was inspecting the garden from above, as I do every morning, and I discovered that my lettuces, which had been stunted forEVER and had finally grown, had been DECIMATED. And that little fucker ate 3 of my broccoli plants as well.

He had dug a little tunnel under our fence, and into the perfectly guarded off section that contains my greens. So basically, I created a barrier so perfect as to keep the chickens away from harassing my greens AS WELL as the Bastard Groundhog.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! If I had a gun, I would USE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Now I am off to go outside and move my fencing to on top of the raised beds... I HATE THAT LITTLE BASTARD!!!!!!!!

Do you see broccoli? Yeah, me neither

A close up

I could just scream!!!!!!

    1. Yesterday I noticed a big rabbit in the front yard. Chased it off before the cat noticed it and ran after him. Later on spotted that it had eaten a bit of a red chard plant and took darn near all of the yellow one. V was pretty peeved off about the rabbit getting the yellow one. She must have been looking forward to it!

  2. I'm so sorry about all that damage. I went through this last year when groundhog got into my garden as well - he actually CLIMBED the fence! http://simplegardenmadeeasy.blogspot.com/2011/06/garden-update.html

Ironically I just snatched a picture of him last night so will do a post on him today too.

    1. I am not one of those that loves cute and cuddly things that destroy my lettuces. Although I did catch some crap from my friends who don't have a battle going with a groundhog... Screw them! Down with the groundhogs!

  4. I just KNEW it was that bastard when I read your post title! For whatever reason, we do NOT have any of them here at the homestead, but were plagued with them when we lived in the 'burbs and they LOVED our gardens. Have you tried renting a live trap? Not that you'd let the bugger live once you got him in the trap. :)

    1. I think it is because out in the wild, and not here in the city, they have predators. Here, there is nothing to keep the population down. Although I do have a friend that is purdy damn good with a bow and arrow, and he agreed to come over and give it a shot (pardon the pun).

    2. ANd no, that bastard would NOT live long after he was in the trap anyways... I would probably be super brutal. Hopefully my pal can take care of it before I am forced to go neanderthal on his furry little butt!

  5. Why don't you tell us how you really feel, Tiny?

LOL, I know I shouldn't laugh at your pain, but that post just made me spew my coffee all over my monitor! I'd shoot the bastard too.

  8. I had a groundhog last year attacking my tomatoes! Sumbitch wouldn't eat one, just take a few bites out of a tomato, sit it down and grab another one and do the same thing. Whatever he did, I lost 5 plants due to him. He got the point when an old clay flowerpot went flying by his dumbass head! I have a gun but it's a 1873 Winchester and I have no shells for it. A good thing this year is my youngest has gotten into Airsoft guns and has an automatic one that will be my weapon of choice.
