The mis-adventures of a gardener in the heart of Cleveland
That bastard apparently has an affinity for my brassicas... Today I am calling to get an exterminator. I am tired of this crap.
I've been literally chasing/running after rabbits from the garden. Hoping they get the hint.
We don't have any rabbits due to the overpopulation of stray cats in our neighborhood... But good luck with that! They are quick little buggers!
Unfortuantely yes, woodchucks love brassicas. I learned very quickly not to plant any broccoli or cabbages or beans/peas anywhere on my deck in containers because it was all-you-can-eat buffet for him.
Yes... Ugh... When I fenced off the chickens from my raised beds, I too created an all you can eat buffet for him free of any interruptions or hassles from my girls. Oy vay...
Doesn't it drive you flipping NUTS that the bastards have ALL that other stuff to eat, but insist on eating our gardens? When you get him, I think you should have him stuffed! I'd even chip in a few bucks!
I would much rather throw his dead body in the garbage than have a reminder of the destruction that bastard has caused!
I'd urge you to not have animals killed simply because you have food that, to them seems like dinner laid out beautifully. Humans in their frustration seem to often think animals should know otherwise be killed. Would you blow the head off your dog if he ate stuff in your harden? Just urging you to consider options such as trapping/relocation, barrier /repellants, etc. (Note: neem oil is fantastic ).
Look EcoGrrl, I am not against having him relocated or whatever, but at this point, I don't care what happens to him whether it be getting shot in the head, run over by a car, or living his life peacefully in the metroparks. I just want him away from my garden!
